Head: Abdrakhmatov Kanatbek Yermekovich, doctor of geological-mineralogical sciences, professor
Seismotectonics Laboratory was established in 1988 on the basis of laboratory fusion depth tectonics, for many years headed by Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences V.I. Knauf and recent tectonics laboratory, the head of which was the doctor of geological-mineralogical sciences, professor Chedia O.K.

International activities
Since 2006, scientists conducted laboratory International Summer School on the study of landslides, which at various times was attended by students from the US, Russia, Germany, Slovakia, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Canada, China, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and New Zealand. For the high quality of the school of the International Framework for landslides (IPL) Institute of Seismology, NAS was awarded the title and certificate of "Best World Center to reduce the risk of hazards."
The laboratory is constantly increasing its scientific potential due to contact and to work together to attract foreign scientists United States (Orogensky University, Institute of the Earth's crust of Southern California), Belgium (Royal Museum for Central Africa, University of Liège), the UK (Cambridge and Oxford), Germany (University of bedding ), Russia (Institute of Geosphere Sciences, Geological Institute, the Institute of Geology, Siberian Branch, Novosibirsk Federal University), Kazakhstan (Institute of Seismology, National Nuclear Center), Uzbekistan (Institute of Seismology), Tajikistan (Institute of Geology and Seismology Institute).
International projects
During the existence of the laboratory it published 12 monographs and collections, more than 800 articles, protected 8 candidate and 2 doctoral theses.
